WACANA 2007 is an annual Buddhist Conference organized
by Nalanda Institute, Malaysia, and Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields.
The theme for this year was “Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders
Today”. Ajahn Jayasaro was invited to share his thoughts on
Buddhist education at the conference which was held on 10th December
2007. We present selected extracts of talks and questions and answers
from the conference on our web here which can be listened on line.
Permission to present the selected talks was sought and kindly granted
by the organizers to whom we acknowledge our gratitude.
The keynote address
by Venerable Bhante Gunaratana presented a new approach of looking
at the way we teach the Life of Buddha and offered many useful suggestions.
Ajahn Jayasaro presented
a dhamma talk on Buddhist education with reference to the role of
teachers.
On 9th December 2007,
Ajahn Jayasaro also gave a talk on “Suffering and Kamma”
to the Buddhist Gem Fellowship (BGF). The talk and the Q and A session
are available for on-line listening and download.
