Welcome to Thawsi School, Bangkok, Thailand. We are a small Buddhist School in the heart of Bangkok city. We aim to teach and train our children to know the meaning of wisdom in Buddhism. We teach children how to learn, how to enjoy learning, to love wisdom for its own sake. Buddhist wisdom teaches the emotional maturity enabling them to make use of their knowledge to create a happy life for themselves and their family and to contribute positively to the society in which they live. It in no way compromises on the work of preparing children to make a good livelihood, but it lets them see that life is deeper and richer than working in order to consume.
Since Thawsi school’s medium of instruction is mainly in Thai, this web page in English is aimed to provide information and resources on the following:

1) Buddhist education where we rely heavily on the teachings of Venerable Phra Brahmagunabhorn (P. A. Payutto) and Ajahn Jayasaro.

2) More general work on Buddhism and dhamma practice based on the teachings of Venerable Ajahn Chah and his monastic disciples of the Thai Forest Tradition.

“Passing on with Grace,” an article by Karnjariya Sukrung in the Outlook Section of The Bangkok Post on 25th November 2007, is a very well written article about a fascinating topic, i.e., “how to die in peace with full awareness.” Particularly interesting is the major role attributed to “insight meditation.” As we are dedicated to Buddhist education and study and practice of Buddhism in general, we would like to share this insightful writing about such an admirable Professor and Doctor Sumalee Nimmannit, who passed away in peace with full awareness.

By courtesy of the Outlook Section of The Bangkok Post and thanks are due to Khun Karnjariya Sukrung, the author of the article.
