Basic features of Thawsi school

 

Currently, there are a total of 65 members of staff, and 166 children at the kindergarten level, and another 140 students in the primary school. There are four main buildings in the school compound. One building for the pre-school, one for kindergarten, one for the primary school and another one for the administration.

	We are planning to start a secondary school, Panyaprateep, within the next few years in Pakchong district, Nakhon Ratchasima Province in the northeast, about two hours drive from Bangkok.

We plan to make Panyaprateep a Buddhist boarding school for secondary students. We also plan to turn the place into a center for meditation practice and various forms of retreat programs in the future. Apart from the normal subjects typical of a standard secondary education, we hope to place additional emphasis in the areas of environmental science, ecology, organic agriculture etc.         We see these branches of science particularly suited to study in a school incorporating the Buddhist values of learning from and living in harmony with the natural world. By learning how to take good care of the environment and pursuing the path of sustainable development, we are also protecting our own future.
